Not enough space

Before you start

Under the file name, Rippsy shows about how big the video will be and how much free space the drive has, for example "About 1.2 GB · 40.3 GB free on C:". If it turns red and says "not enough space," the video probably won't fit.

• For MKV, original quality and Disc image (ISO), the size is exact, so Rippsy grays out Start ripping until there's room.
• For MP4 and MKV, the estimate is on the generous side, so Rippsy only warns you. The rip may still fit, but it's safer to make room first.

How to fix it

• Save somewhere else: click Change… and choose a drive with more space. An external hard drive or a large USB stick works well.
• Pick a smaller format: MP4 is usually a third to half the size of the disc. MKV, original quality and ISO are as big as the disc.
• Free up space on the drive, for example by emptying the Recycle Bin or removing files you no longer need. Then check the estimate again.

Scratched discs need extra room

If a disc is scratched, Rippsy may switch to recovery partway through the rip. Recovery makes a temporary copy of the disc's video in the save folder, so it needs free space about the size of the video on the disc (shown as "of video" in the disc summary), in addition to the finished file. If there isn't room, the rip stops with:

This disc has scratched or hard-to-read areas. To recover it, Rippsy needs about … of free space in the save folder for a temporary copy.

Choose a folder with more space and start again. The temporary copy is deleted when the rip ends.
