Install Rippsy

Get Rippsy from the Microsoft Store. (There's also a portable download: unzip Rippsy-<version>-win-x64.zip anywhere and run Rippsy.exe.)
That's all. Rippsy includes everything it needs: no codec packs, no extra downloads.
Open Rippsy from the Start menu.

Put the disc in. Rippsy notices it on its own after a few seconds, including on a USB DVD drive you plug in while Rippsy is open. The disc appears under 1. Choose a disc with its length and size.
Check "Save as." MP4 video (recommended) is already picked. It plays on almost anything. (See Choosing a format for the others.)
Check the file name. Rippsy suggests one from the disc's label, like "Smith Wedding 1995". If the disc has no useful label, it uses today's date, like "DVD 2026-09-29". Type your own name if you like.
Press Start ripping. You'll see the progress and about how long is left.
When it says "Saved," click Play it to watch it, or Show in folder to find the file. Then click Rip another disc for the next one.

Where your videos go: the Videos\Rippsy folder, unless you pick another with Change….
You can keep using your PC while Rippsy works. It stops the PC from going to sleep until the rip is done.
How long it takes: usually somewhere between a few minutes and the length of the video, depending on your PC and the quality setting. A scratched disc can take longer.
When it finishes, the disc tray opens (you can turn that off in Settings) and the Rippsy button on the taskbar flashes if you're in another window.
Rippsy never overwrites a video. If the name is taken, it adds " (2)", " (3)", and so on.
