Rippsy doesn't see my disc or drive

Rippsy watches for discs and drives on its own. When you put a disc in, or plug in a USB DVD drive, the list under 1. Choose a disc updates within a few seconds.

"No DVD drive found"

Rippsy can't find any CD/DVD drive on this PC.

1. USB DVD drive: plug it straight into the PC, not into a hub or keyboard. Some drives come with a Y-shaped cable with two USB plugs; connect both, because the drive needs the power.
2. Wait a few seconds, then click Refresh.
3. Open File Explorer → This PC. If the drive isn't there either, Windows can't see it, and the problem is the drive or its cable rather than Rippsy. Try another USB port or restart the PC.

No drive at all? You can still use a VIDEO_TS folder copied from a disc.

"Put a disc in drive E:"

Rippsy sees the drive but not a disc.

1. Give the disc 10 to 20 seconds to spin up. Rippsy will notice it by itself.
2. Click Refresh.
3. Check the disc is in shiny side down (or facing in, for slot-loading drives) and is clean.
4. If File Explorer doesn't show the disc either, the drive can't read it. Try cleaning it, or another drive. Old camcorder discs sometimes only read in the camcorder until they're finalized.

The disc shows as "(not a video DVD)"

The disc has no VIDEO_TS folder, so it isn't a video DVD. See No video found.

Each drive is listed. Rippsy picks the one with a video DVD in it; click another to switch.
