"Rippsy couldn't find any video on this disc"

Rippsy sees a disc but no DVD video on it. The usual reasons:

• The disc isn't finalized. Camcorders and DVD recorders have to finalize a disc before other players and computers can read it. This is the most common cause with home DVDs, especially if the disc plays in the camcorder or recorder but nowhere else. Fix: put the disc back in the camcorder or recorder that made it and choose its Finalize option (check its manual; it may be under a disc or setup menu). Then try again in Rippsy.
• The disc is blank, or the recording never finished.
• The disc is badly damaged. See Scratched discs.
• The disc was recorded in "VR mode" by some DVD recorders. These discs don't have the usual DVD video layout. Finalizing may not help; the recorder may be able to copy it to a standard-mode disc.

"This isn't a video DVD (there's no VIDEO_TS folder on it)"

The disc is a data disc, not a video DVD. People often burned video files (like .mp4, .avi, .mov, or .mpg) straight onto a disc this way.

• Fix: open the disc in File Explorer and copy the video files straight to your PC. They're already videos; Rippsy isn't needed.
• Or, to keep the whole disc as it is, choose Disc image (ISO) in Rippsy. See Disc images.
