Getting started
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Vantage Player needs Windows 10 or 11 (x64). It comes from the Microsoft Store and needs nothing else: no codec packs, no separate VLC, no .NET runtime.
- Install Vantage Player from the Microsoft Store and open it from the Start menu. The Store keeps it up to date.
- Open a video. Drag it onto the window, press Ctrl+O, or double-click it in File Explorer once Vantage Player is your video app.
- Press Right for the next video in the same folder and Left for the previous one. The folder is the playlist.
- Move the mouse to show the control bar. It hides again after a couple of seconds of playback, and so does the pointer.
- Right-click the video for everything else: subtitles, audio track, speed, video fit, Delete video, Copy to folder, Recent and Settings.
The first time you start it, Vantage Player offers to become your video app. Windows has to confirm that in Settings. See Make it your default video app.
