Copy to folder
Last updated: 26 October 2026
What it does
Copy to folder copies the video you are watching into another folder, such as a USB drive or a "keep" folder. The original stays where it is. Vantage Player remembers the folders you use, so the next copy is one click or one key.
How to use it
- Right-click → Copy to folder → Choose folder…, and pick a folder.
- The copy runs in the background while the video keeps playing. A message says when it is done.
- Next time, the folders you used are listed in the same menu. Click one to copy there.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+C to copy to the last folder you used. If you have not picked one yet, it asks.
Vantage Player never overwrites a file:
- If the folder already has the same video, nothing is copied and the message says it is already there.
- If the folder has a different file with the same name, the copy is saved as "name (2)".
Remembered folders
- Vantage Player remembers the last 8 folders. Folders that no longer exist are left out of the menu.
- Clear folders at the bottom of the menu empties the list.
- To stop remembering, turn off Remember these folders in the menu, or Remember copy-to folders in Settings. Turning it off also deletes the list. Ctrl+Shift+C still repeats the last folder until you close Vantage Player.
Copy the file to paste somewhere
Right-click → Copy video file, or Ctrl+C, puts the video on the clipboard. Paste it into a File Explorer window to copy it there, or into a text box to paste its path.
Troubleshooting
- "Already in": the folder you picked is the one the video is in.
- "Couldn't copy — no permission": choose a folder you can write to.
- "Couldn't copy": the drive may be full or was removed. Vantage Player removes the part-copied file.
