Yoink needs administrator
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Reading or writing a USB stick as a raw disk needs administrator rights on Windows and sudo on macOS. Without that, Yoink can list a drive and still refuse to rip or wipe it.
What to do
- On Windows, close Yoink and open it again. Approve the administrator prompt.
- On macOS, run the command with sudo:
sudo yoink rip disk4 -o installer.img. - If Windows says the operation was cancelled, the prompt was declined. Open Yoink again and approve it.
