Last updated: 25 October 2026
Yoink is a desktop application for Windows and macOS published by LTC Labs. The contents of your USB sticks and SD cards stay on those sticks and in the image files you choose. Yoink does not upload them.
There is no account, no crash reporting, and no usage telemetry.

What Yoink sends
Update check
At most once a day, Yoink sends a request to https://www.ltclabs.dev/api/app/update-check with:
- the app name
yoinkand the Yoink version - the operating system and its version
- a session id that changes every time Yoink starts
- a machine id that is a one-way hash. On Windows that hash is of the processor id and the Windows machine id. On a Mac it uses the Mac's platform id. It cannot be turned back into those values.
The reply is whether a newer Yoink exists, and a support token. The check does not include drive names, file names, or anything read from a stick.
Contact support
A message is sent only when you press Send in Support. It includes the email address, optional name, subject and message you typed. Paths you type are removed before the message leaves the computer.
If Include diagnostic info is checked, the message also includes the Yoink version, the operating system, how many USB drives Yoink sees, and for each one the model, size, file system and bus. It does not include the volume name or where the drive is mounted. A path in an error line is removed before it is sent.
If Attach a screenshot is checked, Yoink sends a picture of its own window. That picture can show drive names. It is not a picture of your desktop or of other programs.
Children
Yoink is not directed at children. A support message includes the email address the person types.
