Wipe a drive
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Wipe erases the whole USB stick or SD card and creates one new partition. Everything on that stick is gone. Yoink checks again, right before it formats, that the disk is still the removable drive you picked.
How to use it
- Select the stick.
- Choose Wipe this drive.
- Pick FAT32, exFAT or NTFS. On macOS, FAT32 or exFAT.
- Type ERASE. Yoink will not wipe a drive because a button was clicked once.
FAT32 on Windows is limited to 32 GB. Use exFAT for a larger stick you want to read on both Windows and Mac.
Troubleshooting
- Yoink refuses the disk: My drive isn't listed. Internal drives and the system disk are never accepted.
- You don't have administrator rights: Yoink needs administrator.
