Session history

Last updated: 27 August 2026

What it does

StreamView records terminal output so you can review past sessions. History is stored locally — point the data directory at a cloud-synced folder to reach it across machines, but StreamView itself has no cloud features. What each stream records is governed by its recording mode.

How to use it

View history

  1. Open Settings > History.
  2. Browse sessions by date, stream name, or workspace.
  3. Click a session to view its recorded output.
  4. Search across all sessions.

Export

  • Copy All — copy session content to the clipboard
  • Export .md — save as Markdown
  • Export .txt — save as plain text
  • Export All — create a ZIP archive of all recorded history

Privacy

  • History is stored locally on your machine (or your chosen data directory).
  • No terminal content is sent to any external server.
  • Clear all history anytime from Settings.

Troubleshooting

  • A stream recorded nothing — check its recording mode; it may be set to None, or to Input/Output Only.
  • History is using a lot of disk — set a retention period in Settings > History, or lower the buffer size.
