Restore

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Restore replaces a whole disk with an image Stillwater made. A bigger disk is fine: Windows grows to use the extra space. You can set a new computer name and a local password for the restored copy.

How to use it

  1. Plug in the drive that holds the image. Stillwater lists images it finds.
  2. Open Restore and pick the image. Stillwater checks the image before it erases anything.
  3. Pick the disk to replace. Everything on that disk is replaced.
  4. Read the plan. Type ERASE to confirm.
  5. Leave both drives connected until it finishes.

To restore the drive Windows is running from, boot the recovery stick and restore from there. Stillwater will not restore over the Windows that is running now.
