My microphone wasn't recorded

The finished file has the other side of the call but not your voice.
1. Was the toggle on before you pressed RECORD?
Also record my microphone has to be ticked before the recording starts — it locks while recording. It also resets to off every time StreamTap starts, by design, so your mic is never captured unintentionally. If you would rather it stayed on, see Keeping the microphone on.
When it's on, a purple Microphone meter appears below the System meter. If you didn't see that meter, the mic wasn't being captured.
2. Does Windows let StreamTap use the microphone?
Check Windows Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone and confirm both Microphone access and Let desktop apps access your microphone are on. With access blocked, the recording starts but the mic track stays silent.
3. Is the right microphone selected?
Check Mic input, which appears next to the microphone toggle. It starts on Default — the input device Windows is using — and lists every microphone that is switched on. Pick the one you're actually speaking into and check the purple meter responds.
If you leave it on Default and the wrong mic is being picked up, set the one you want under Settings → System → Sound → Input instead.
4. Is another app holding the microphone?
Some conferencing apps hold the mic in a mode that leaves nothing for a second recorder. If your call app is running, try a short test recording with it closed to narrow it down.
5. Is your voice just very quiet in the mix?
If the purple meter moves while you talk, your voice was captured — it is only buried. Raise Mic level, which moves the microphone up against the system audio by up to 12 dB when the two are combined.
If the meter barely moves at all, the input level itself is too low: raise it in Windows Settings → System → Sound → Input and check the meter reaches a healthy level before recording. A boost in StreamTap raises the hiss along with the voice, so it is worth fixing at the source.
