A monitor won't go to sleep
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Work through these in order.
1. Is it marked Always on?
Click its tile. If Always on is ticked (orange tile), BranchOut Display will never sleep it. Untick it.
2. Does it support DDC/CI?
Click its tile and look at the DDC/CI line.
- Not supported — open the monitor's on-screen menu (the buttons on the monitor) and look for DDC/CI, usually under System, Setup or Other. Turn it on, then click Refresh.
- If there's no such setting, the monitor, TV, adapter, dock or HDMI switch doesn't pass DDC/CI through. Choose Turn off its signal for it — see Monitors that can't sleep directly.
3. It goes black but the light stays on
That's the black-screen fallback for monitors without DDC/CI. Switch that monitor to Turn off its signal for a real standby.
4. Check what happened
After Sleep Now, the message under the button says what happened to each monitor. The log file has the details: %LOCALAPPDATA%\BranchOutDisplay\Logs\.
Still stuck?
Use Contact Support (help panel or tray menu) with Include diagnostic logs ticked — it tells us exactly what each monitor reported.
